Ag Mechanics Team Wins at State-Headed to National Competition
The Mira Monte Agricultural Mechanics team is the FIRST team to bring a State Championship Title to Mira Monte High School. 43 teams throughout the state competed in over 6 competitions, culminating in the State Championship at Cal Poly SLO.
Teams competed by completing the following tasks over 5.5 hours.
-Arc Welding
-Electrical Wiring
-Oxy Fuel Cutting and Welding
-Problem Solving/Plan Interpretation
-General Knowledge Test and Tool Identification
The next step for the team will be the National Competition in Indianapolis this Fall.
Competitions so far include:
1st place at Le Grand High school field day
1st place at Merced College Field day
1st place at Modesto Jr College Field day
1st place at Reedley College Field day
2nd place at Fresno state Field day
1st place and 2022 state champions at Cal Poly SLO state finals field day
Los Leones de Mira Monte Win at the 2022 PEAAK Awards
At the Kern High PEAAK Awards for Excellence in Athletics and Activities on May 18, 2022, the Los Liones de Mira Monte were presented with the Harvey Hall Spirit of Bakersfield Award. They performed as guests filled the auditorium and took the stage to conclude the event.
Congratulations, and you sounded amazing tonight. The PRIDE is proud of you all.
Extraordinary Essay, by Kayla Vaughn, Class of 2025
Kayla Vaughn, a Freshman in Mrs. Rowlands 9th Grade GATE English, is being recognized for her extraordinary writing talent displayed in her essay, "I Have a Dream: A Rhetorical Analysis". Her essay is being celebrated on the KHSD website and can be found by clicking the link below. Mrs. Rowland says her writing "is a level...that far exceeds many seniors in this whole district." FFA Sectional Competition
This week we had a freshman, Best Informed Greenhand Team and a senior, Agricultural Cooperatives Team compete for our sectional competition held at Arvin High School. We wanted to share the results with you. Our Co-Ops Team placed 3rd high team and Johana Lima placed 3rd overall individually. They represented themselves and our school very well on Wednesday.
